Contractor of Choice – Mladen Buntich Construction Co. was contracted by EVO Condominiums. Buntich installed a complex shoring system using a non-vibrating Sheet Piler, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
In the early part of 2006, Mladen Buntich Construction Co. had the opportunity to perform a complex shoring installation as a subcontractor for the high profile EVO Condominiums. Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles at 1111 South Grand Avenue and two blocks from the Staples Center consists of three residential towers with ground floor retail and multi-level parking. The Buntich Team was able to deliver a non-vibratory sheet pile system.
The client, their team, along with the neighboring public was concerned with the noise and vibration the sheet pile system installation could create. Buntich successfully installed 393 50-ft pieces with no noise or vibration complaints or issues.
As highlighted in the project images, the installation of Z-Sheet piles (AZ36) were installed into very dense coarse sand with gravel and cobbles (maximum SPT value greater than 500).
